Decorative vs purpose

Remember my birthday hamper I spoke about in this post, well, here I am back with more goodies from it! When I saw these, I did think they were just decorative balls until I looked at the bottom and saw ingredients...

Turns out I was wrong. The smallest to your left is a solid perfume, the medium sized one to the right is a hand cream and the larger one up the top is a glistening body cream. All three smell quite nice, with a hint of musk to them. Turns out this wee set is from M&S. I've never actually had any toiletry type prodcuts from there so I was going in with an open mind.

The products themselves are fine. Not fantastic but not horrible, it's a lovely wee scent However, I actually use them more as decoration, they just look so shiny and look lovely in my bathroom! I'll maybe remember every so often after coming out the shower that they open and have product inside them and dab a wee bit on but I don't go out of my way to use them.

I've only swatched the glistening body cream to show you how it looks. Can't really show off a solid perfume and the hand cream you can't really notice once it's blended in. This body cream is cute though, nice wee shimmer to it. I'd probably save it for a night out and maybe add a bit to my moisturiser for a wee sparkle.

Do you have any decorative toiletries?

Sneaky sample!

Was pottering about my kitchen not five minutes ago when I came across a rogue sample of Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle lying on top of my microwave. I say rogue sample as I try to keep them all together, I must have had a busy mind when I opened this.

I haven't tried any Dior perfumes before so I didn't have any expectations or hopes for this. It was lovely! A light, airy perfume, great for spring/summer but enough oomph to carry you through to autumn/winter.

At first whiff, you are greeted with strong hints of rose. Strong but not overpowering. As the scent develops, a beautiful jasmine scent comes into play, which to me, makes the perfume. I love a bit of jasmine. There is a third scent that I can't quite put my finger on that rounds off the whole experience (I've yet to develop a nose for perfumes)

From what I can see on the sample card, the bottle for Eau Sensuelle is in keeping with current trends and has an ombre effect to it. It's also in my favourite colour, purple!

I hope to try the previously named Dior Addict 2, now DiorAddict Eau Fraiche, to see how the scents differ.

Have you tried either, or both? Opinions?

Perfume

I got Flower By Kenzo first. It was a Christmas gift from my mother. I think I must have been about 14 or 15. I felt so grown up, having a ladies perfume not a teenage one (See bottom of post for my 'teen perfume') It smelled and still smells divine and the bottle is great. I love the way that's it's not perfectly straight. I like perfume bottles that look odd, good conversation starter sometimes! I try not to use this one too much, I don't like it running out. It's usually when I have no money to replace it! I tend to use it as my 'going out' scent like for nights out, dates, etc.

DKNY Be Delicious was another Christmas gift from my mum. She's good at this game! I think I was about 16 when I got this, so that was already 2 years of loving Flower but by god, Be Delicious came in and halved that crown! In case you didn't already know or couldn't tell from the picture, it's an apple scented perfume and I just love it. This is more my daytime scent. Quick wee spritz in the morning and I'm good to go. However, I love it that much, I tend to add a bit more as the day goes on.

As a younger teen, I found I only used two perfumes as well. These two being J.Lo's Glow and Beat by Rimmel. Again both presents from both my mums this time. My mother would get me Beat and my (step) mum would get Glow for me.

As much as I love knowing what scents I like and what to buy, I think I need to get myself out there more. Try something different! Any suggestions?

What scents did you wear as a teen? What do you wear now?

Escada Rockin' Rio

Got a wee sample in the post today ( yesterday now, I forgot to post this last night). I'm always wary of perfume, I don't like it if they are heavy sitting and I'm really rather fussy! I prefer light, fruity scents.

That's exactly what this is! It's beautiful. Nice and light but still packs a punch of aroma. I could possibly be persuaded to buy this, add it to my two already faithful scents. (I'll do a separate post about them)

This is a great scent for summer I reckon. The bottle as well, looks lovely from what I can see on the above picture. Bright, bold colours which I'm always a fan of.
